I had a visitor last night,
He clung to the shadows and shied away from the light.
At first I was a little shocked,
for one does not expect this but all He did was laugh and mock.
As I looked around the room,
and my eyes searched and probed the gloom,
I felt the ice cold grip of the dead on my shoulder
And I lay there paralysed and in terror as the room grew colder.
And that night I shall never forget
And that cold, cruel stranger whom I had the misfortune to have met.

I like how the first line is so ordinary for a poem about terrifying ghosts.
I think '
Eyes probing? Weird, but cool.

The way you describe the visitor - I would thought it's a vampire and not a ghost.

Probably but I was trying to lengthen the verse to keep the pattern going.
I like it when actions are turned into something a bit more.

Oh. I don't notice patterns.
Particuarly probing?
